Psychosocial Intervention
Over time, SLB’s disaster response efforts have evolved to include psychosocial interventions for the survivors of calamities (e.g. in the Guinsaugon Landslides in Leyte and Typhoon Reming in Bikol.)
The program strives toward a synchronized effort in the provision of psychosocial support (i.e. post-traumatic stress de-briefing and processing) for the survivors of disasters. This program is currently being strengthened with a view towards preparedness in delivering prompt assistance for survivors of future disasters.

Values/Perspectives/Ethics

  • Faith in the Human spirit

We believe in the survivors’ inherent strengths and capacities for coping in times of distress as well as the collective strength of the community for sustained recovery

  • Holistic Framework for Healing & Recovery

  • Gospel Values

We believe that psycho-social missions are mutually evangelizing – as we share our time, energy, skills and most importantly our love for the survivors and affected stakeholders, we are equally if not even more edified by the survivors’ resilience, sense of hope, and continual FAITH in God despite the adversity they experienced. Crisis points are entry points for processing.

  • Spirit of Volunteerism

  • Respect for Human Rights/Convention on the Rights of Children

  • Promotion of Partnerships or Collaboration among Non-Government Organizations, People’s Organization, Government institutions, the Academe, and the Church
